FAQS
Questions about what it’s like to work together?
Here are some of the most common questions we get from individuals about therapy. If you don’t see your question answered below, contact us.

We work with children (ages 5+), adolescents, adults of all ages, couples, and parents/caregivers.
We provide individual therapy, couples therapy, educational sessions, and specialized services such as in-home therapy and walk + talk therapy.
-
We are an out-of-network private pay practice. This means:
We do not bill insurance directly
We can provide a superbill (specialized receipt) for you to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement
Reimbursement depends on your specific out-of-network benefits
Most insurance companies reimburse between 50-80% of the fee
Questions to ask your insurance provider:
Do I have out-of-network mental health coverage?
What is my deductible, and has it been met?
What percentage of each session is reimbursed?
-
More Privacy + Flexibility
When you use insurance, therapy often requires a formal mental health diagnosis, and your care must meet certain criteria to be covered. Insurance companies may also limit the number of sessions or dictate the type of therapy you can receive.
By working out of network, your therapy remains private and fully focused on your needs—not insurance requirements. You and your therapist decide what’s best for your care, not a third party.
Tailored, Personalized Care
Out-of-network therapy allows us to work at your pace, using approaches that feel right for you or your child—whether that’s short-term support or deeper, longer-term work. No rigid treatment timelines. No required labels.
Out-of-Network Reimbursement
Many clients can still receive partial reimbursement through their insurance’s out-of-network benefits. We provide a monthly superbill (a specialized receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Every plan is different, but many clients can recover a significant portion of their therapy costs this way.
Investment in Your Well-Being
Choosing to pay out of pocket is an investment in therapy that is fully customized, confidential, and centered around your goals—without outside restrictions.

Yes, parent and caregiver involvement is welcomed and encouraged. At Zen + Zest Therapy, we believe that healing and growth often happen both inside and outside of the therapy room.
However, it's also important to honor your child’s privacy. Therapy is a safe space for your child to share openly, and confidentiality is key to building trust. While we don’t share the specific details of your child’s sessions, we are able to provide general updates, and offer guidance on how you can best support your child at home.
Depending on your child’s age and needs, we may also schedule periodic parent meetings or check-ins. If there are safety concerns, or if your child shares something that requires your involvement, we’ll always discuss the next steps together.
We’re here to work as a team—with your child’s well-being at the center.
