We are an out-of-network private pay practice. This means:
We do not bill insurance directly
We can provide a superbill (specialized receipt) for you to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement
Reimbursement depends on your specific out-of-network benefits
Most insurance companies reimburse between 50-80% of the fee
Questions to ask your insurance provider:
Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
What is my out-of-network deductible and How much of it has been met so far?
What is the reimbursement rate for outpatient psychotherapy from a licensed social worker (CPT codes 90791, 90834, 90837)?
Is there a limit on the number of sessions you will reimburse per year?
How do I submit an out-of-network claim? (Is there an online portal, app, or specific form)?
How long does reimbursement typically take?

At Zen + Zest Therapy Services, we are an out-of-network, private-pay practice. This means we do not bill insurance directly. Instead, we focus on providing thoughtful, individualized care without the constraints often imposed by insurance companies.
Below is a clear explanation of what that means — and what it doesn’t.
Privacy & Clinical Autonomy
When therapy is billed through insurance, providers are typically required to assign a mental health diagnosis and follow specific treatment guidelines in order for sessions to be covered. Insurance companies may also request information about treatment progress and limit the number or type of sessions approved.
By choosing out-of-network therapy, insurance companies are not involved in reviewing or authorizing your treatment. Decisions regarding frequency, length, and therapeutic approach are made collaboratively between you and your therapist based on clinical needs rather than insurance criteria.
Thoughtful, Personalized Care
Out-of-network therapy allows us to work at a pace and depth that feels right for you or your child. This may include short-term support, longer-term therapy, or more flexible approaches depending on what you’re navigating.
There are no rigid timelines or insurance-driven requirements guiding your care. Our focus is on creating a therapeutic experience that is responsive, intentional, and aligned with your goals.
Diagnoses & Insurance Reimbursement
Working out of network does not require insurance involvement or the sharing of clinical records.
However, if you choose to seek reimbursement through your insurance plan’s out-of-network benefits, your insurance company may require a mental health diagnosis for reimbursement purposes.
For clients who request this option, we provide a monthly superbill, a detailed receipt that you may submit to your insurance company. Submission and reimbursement are handled directly between you and your insurer, and coverage varies by plan.
We are always happy to discuss this process and answer questions so you can make an informed decision.
An Investment in Your Well-Being
Private-pay therapy is an investment in care that is confidential, flexible, and tailored to you without outside restrictions or limitations.
At Zen + Zest, we prioritize a therapeutic experience that feels grounded, respectful, and deeply attentive to the whole person.

Yes, parent and caregiver involvement is welcomed and encouraged. At Zen + Zest Therapy, we believe that healing and growth often happen both inside and outside of the therapy room.
However, it's also important to honor your child’s privacy. Therapy is a safe space for your child to share openly, and confidentiality is key to building trust. While we don’t share the specific details of your child’s sessions, we are able to provide general updates, and offer guidance on how you can best support your child at home.
Depending on your child’s age and needs, we may also schedule periodic parent meetings or check-ins. If there are safety concerns, or if your child shares something that requires your involvement, we’ll always discuss the next steps together.
We’re here to work as a team—with your child’s well-being at the center.
